I am a healthy female, other than I self-cath for urinary retention. I use the "male" size, because it's easier to fold in half and carry in a makeup bag, plus, I can always go standing up if I need to in a dirty bathroom! I re-use the same cath for several weeks, just washing it in warm water with soap, drying it and putting it back in the sleeve it came in. For on-the-go, I find if I carry the Benzalkonium Chloride wipes, I can clean it off without washing it in public and so far no infections...I also take 50 mg. Macrobid about twice a week to ward off infections though (I have to self-cath every time I urinate). Hope this helps!
